Rain-Water Harvesting Reservoir (RWHR)

Nearly 50% of the agriculture land has no irrigation facility or availability of water for farming in non-rainy seasons hence farming is not possible in non-rainy season resulting in poverty and scarcity. If the farmers are supported and educated about the rain-water harvesting techniques, they can earn more from their farmland.

Every household is trained and motivated about the benefits of RWHR. We provide technical as well as financial support to all these households for setting up a RWHR.

Benefits:

  • Water for irrigation
  • Fishery
  • Underground water recharging
  • Prevention of fertile top soil being washed away during rainy season
  • Water for Mother Cow

Achievement: With the help of the generous donors, till date we have been able to install 12 RWHR in the villages of West Bengal.

Target: Though the requirement for RWHR is huge, keeping in mind the limitation of resources, this year Goseva Parivar has taken an ambitious target of installing 500 new RWHRs, which will go a long way in preservation of Mother Cow and ensuring economic growth of the farmers of West Bengal.
